Linda Brandts, Principal
It is my pleasure to serve as Summerwind’s Principal for the 2015/2016 school year. I have over 19 years’ experience in education and have taught every grade K-8 with the exception of 2nd & 3rd. I have served as a Dean of Students at a high school and Assistant Principal for the past two years in the Palmdale School District. I am proud to say that I attended the Palmdale School District schools and Palmdale is where I grew up. I graduated from Antelope Valley College with my Associates of Arts degree, received a Bachelor of Arts from California State University of Bakersfield, a Master’s degree in Education from National University and a Doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of the Pacific. Students ask, “Are you a doctor?” Yes, I am, but a doctor of education.
This year Summerwind is off to a great start. Our new Assistant Principal is Candace Craven and we are so lucky to have her. We are also fortunate to have such a hardworking and dedicated PTA, but it takes a team to be mighty and they are always looking for help. I would like to invite you to attend Coffee with the Principal which is held monthly. This is an informal way to meet me and talk about school, education, children, or just to say hi and get to know each other.
We will have many opportunities for families to participate in activities at Summerwind. We are striving to make strong connections with our students, families, and community.
