Mrs. Hethcoat

Hello, . Today is Wednesday, May 27, 2015.
Welcome to Mrs. Hethcoat's page.

Cruise into Reading

Here is a list of supplies that you will want for 8th grade. I encourage you to buy it all now while it is cheap and then have it at your house as we need it throughout the year. For example the notebooks I suggest you buy are less than 25 cents at WalMart now and will be over a dollar by October.
10-15 of the cheap one subject notebooks.
1 graph notebook, these are more expensive but you will need it for a few chapters of math
Pencils, lots of them and lead if you buy mechanical pencils. At least 3 ten packs of pencils
pens blue and black ink
Red pens for correcting, editing, revising, at least one ten pack
lined notebook filler paper, I suggest 5 packs of the 150 pages each at under a dollar a piece.
4-8 folders to get organized in, it depends how your child likes to be organized.
lined index cards, they sell them 300 for $1.24 at WalMart.
One water bottle we have water in our room but do not allow the use of cups because of spilling, so a good water bottle would be handy
To keep at home for homework you should have a set of colored pencils, scissors, and glue sticks
These are items are recommended NOT required.
If you would like to donate any of the following to the classroom it would be much appreciated.
Tissue (Kleenex)
paper towels
band aids
salt yes, we use salt in a few science experiments so we need a few of the large containers of salt
9 oz clear plastic cups we use these a lot in science
Mouse traps (again for a science activity)
Throughout the year I may ask for other things as well so if now is not a good time there will be other times to help.
Two great places for help in math are yaymath.org and Khanacademy.org
