From the Desk of the Principal
Dr. Jennifer Pesavento has been a school site administrator since the fall of 2011, spanning grade levels TK-12. She has been a teacher in grades three through twelve in various subject areas in Illinois and California for nine years; however, the majority of her K-12 teaching experience is as a high school English teacher in California. As Dr. Pesavento has experience from alternative school teaching, to co-teaching high numbers of students on Individualized Education Plans, to teaching and leading in the Gifted and Talented Education programs, to teaching preservice teachers and graduate students, she understands the role of every classroom teacher in the larger context of society to provide educational opportunities for all students. Dr. Pesavento’s goal is to encourage teachers and support pathways where they can be agents of increased social justice and equity to decrease the learning gap between various demographic groups.
Dr. Pesavento earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (2010) through University of California San Diego and California State University San Marcos. She has a Master’s of Science in Educational Administration (2005) and a Bachelor’s of Science in English Education (2001) from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. She has also taken numerous other courses at various institutions, which even include a summer studying abroad in Costa Rica to continue learning Spanish. Dr. Pesavento grew up in the City of Chicago and its southwest suburbs and moved to Southern California in the summer of 2005. She enjoys playing kickball and tennis, traveling, reading for fun, visiting Fish Lake, Indiana with family, and spending time with her Labradoodles, Charlie and Clementine.
