Second Grade

ALATORRE:  Second Grade

Our class is working very hard in math.  We are learning numbers 1 to 100 and we are also learning about place value.

During language arts, our class is going over vowels, and consonant fluency.  We are learning about nature, parks and hiking.

At the end of October, we will be doing “career day” presentations.  This is an enjoyable activity for everyone; the children talk about becoming doctors, nurses, firemen and numerous other professions, while dressed in character.

Parent Reminder:  Please read with your children, and make sure to ask them questions about what they have just read.  Please remember to make sure all homework is complete and corrected.

Our class is in need of donations from home.  If you are able, we need dry erase markers, playground balls and paper.

Thank you,

Mrs. Alatorrelistening

KAUFFMAN:  Second Grade

Our class is taking an adventure ride through nature, camping, rangers, parks and hiking.  The students are really having a good time!

In mathematics, we are working on the meaning of place value.

Our class has two upcoming projects.  At the end of October, we will be doing “Career Day” presentations.  Let’s see how many professions my class chooses!  At the end of November, we will be working on our “Family Quilt” projects.

Parent Reminder:  Please read with your child every day and ask him/her questions about what they have just read.

Our class supplies are very limited this year.  If you would like to donate dry erase markers, Kleenex tissue, pencils or playground balls, we would really appreciate it!

Thank you so much,

Mrs. Kauffman

We are working really hard in math; right now we are applying our knowledge in place value.

In language arts, we are learning to write complete sentences, learning about commands and reading about a Park Ranger in New York.

An upcoming project in our class is going to be finding out where our ancestors came from and how they got to the United States of America.

Parent reminder:  Please do nightly fluency with your child.  Make sure he/she reads every night and please sing their reading log.

Our class could use donations of Kleenex tissue, balls, dry erase markers are always nice too!

Thank you,
