Gifted and Talented Education
The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program at Palmdale Learning Plaza serves students who have interests and competencies that are significantly beyond their chronological peers. The program is overseen by teachers and administrators with specialized training to address the unique needs of the gifted population.
Every student is eligible to apply for admission to the GATE program. The GATE application process looks at the "whole" student. The site GATE committee uses data from the classroom teacher, the parent, a leadership survey, standardized testing, academic achievement, and IQ tests.
Anyone (parents, teachers, self-referring students, administrators) with a vested interest in a student may make a referral to the GATE program. Parents who wish to refer their student must download, complete, and turn in the parent survey and consent forms to the classroom teacher.
