FROM THE DESK OF THE PRINCIPAL
MR. MICHAEL MCNELIS
It is truly an honor to serve as Principal of Palmdale Learning Plaza, home of the Pumas. With a Marketing Management degree from Bentley University, in Waltham, MA, I started my career in the corporate world where I held various positions within finance and administration. However, my passion to be an educator was finally fulfilled twenty years ago. I returned to school to pursue my Master’s degree in Education at the University of New Haven in Connecticut. Then, after being in the classroom for a few years, I went on to receive a second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from California State University in Northridge. I spent fourteen years in the classroom teaching grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. My next role was that of Assistant Principal in New Hampshire for four years and then at Desert Rose and now as Principal.
As Principal, it is my goal to always put students first. Here at PLP, we believe ALL students can learn, and it is our job to make sure we support their needs. We have a dedicated and dynamic staff that work collaboratively towards seeing all students thrive. Our students’ safety is a priority, as well as providing a learning environment that is positive, caring, and a fun place to learn and grow.
We embrace the tenets of the Palmdale Promise and believe that our diverse community is foundational to our ongoing achievement. Having the support of all the stakeholders is what helps provide our students the skills, knowledge, and inspiration to be life-long learners.
Yours in education,
Mr. Michael McNelis
