Student Conduct

Barrel Springs Elementary School has an environment that is quiet, orderly and conducive to learning. Each student will have the opportunity to learn without interference from others. Students are expected to exhibit acceptable citizenship and to be responsible for their actions.

Classroom teachers are responsible for the management of their classroom. Teachers shall develop classroom guidelines that are compatible with campus-wide discipline policies. Barrel Springs Elementary School will use a variety of interventions to deal with student discipline. These interventions may consist of teacher/student conferences, loss of privileges, in and out of school suspensions, and, in severe cases, expulsion.

Campus supervisors monitor student behavior outside of the classroom. They intervene in situations between students when necessary. Minor infractions are handled on the field between the supervisors and the students. Any situations that are deemed serious in nature are referred to the office for an administrator to address.

Gum, Candy, and Soda

As a general rule the students at Barrel Springs are not to bring these items to school. Soda and candy may be brought in a student’s lunch, but must be consumed at lunch and in the cafeteria. No food is to be eaten on the playground.

Sale of any food item is prohibited on school campus and student will face disciplinary action if the rule is violated.
