From the Desk of the Principal, Mr. Fredrick Gatlin
Hello students, parents, family, and friends. My name is Mr. Fredrick Gatlin, I would like to take this opportunity to share with you a short biography about myself. I am a native to Southern California and was born and raised in Compton CA.
I have two grown stepchildren and a lovely wife, Mrs. Gatlin. I had the privilege of earning my undergraduate degree from the University of Nevada (Wolfpack). I also was given an opportunity to play football (Q.B.) on an athletic scholarship. After my collegiate career, I went onto play in the Canadian Football League (CFL) and in the European Football League.
During my early years of teaching, I also worked in other professions. I briefly worked as a juvenile probation officer, and a tutor with the VIDA (Vital Interventions Directional Alternatives) program. I also play tournament golf in my spare time. I believe these different opportunities have consistently given me a well-rounded perspective on life.
I received my master’s degree from Pepperdine University and my administrative credential from Brandman University. I’ve been an educator for the past 23 years and I’m looking forward to what the future brings.
This is my 5 th year as an administrator. Four of those years, I was an assistant principal here, at David G. Millen. With that being said, I have a good feel for our culture, teachers, and students. I’m looking forward to leading our David G. Millen team to great places.
