    Yesenia Diaz

Hello students, parents, and family. My name is Yesenia Diaz and I am the Assistant Principal at Tumbleweed Elementary for the 2017/2018 school year. I would like to take the opportunity to share a little about myself. I was born in Guatemala and immigrated to the United States with my family at a young age. Coming from another country has not only taught me the value of my culture but also to appreciate and understand other cultures.  I hold a Bachelors in Education from California State University of Northridge and Masters of Science in Administration from Pepperdine University. I currently reside in the Santa Clarita area with my husband, Jose, and two sons, William and Erick. I enjoy reading books and traveling with my family.

Prior to coming to Tumbleweed, I was the Assistant Principal at Palm Tree Elementary for two years as well as an elementary teacher at Tumbleweed, Desert Rose, and Yucca Elementary where I taught 4th grade and Kindergarten. I was also an elementary teacher in LAUSD where I taught 2nd, 3rd and 5th grade.

I firmly value and believe in the Palmdale Promise where we need to prepare all students for 21st century learning, while providing equity to all students and building on students’ strengths and culture.  In addition, I am confident that parents, families, and the community play an important role for our students in Tumbleweed.

I look forward to a great school year. I am excited to work with great students, staff and the families that make up the wonderful Tumbleweed community.
