My name is Kathy Moshier and I am the proud principal of Shadow Hills Engineering and Design Magnet Academy.

I graduated from Chapman University with a BA in Social Sciences and a Multiple Subject Credential in 1997 and from Fielding Graduate University with a MA in Educational Leadership in 2007.  I have been in education for twenty-five years. The first fourteen were spent teaching elementary and middle school students in the Southern Kern Unified School District. I then moved up into administration, where I have spent the past 11 years. I came to the Palmdale School district in 2012 as an Assistant Principal and became Principal in 2015.

I believe in being 'brave and afraid' at the same time- having the courage to put yourself into new situations even though it feels scary. This is a trait that I encourage our students and staff to embrace. Our school motto is "Be Here, Be You and Belong, because this school belongs to all of us"- meaning- come to school and class and be present, be your unique self; not what your friends expect you to be, and get connected and be a Falcon.

Shadow Hills is dedicated to ensuring that our students have the opportunity to explore classes that will lead them to a college or career path, as we offer a wide variety of elective classes, including our brand new Paxton Patterson lab where students are exposed to topics like electrical engineering, alternative energy, digital recording, and fashion design.  Other electives include Geometric Design, Robotics, Coding and Gaming, Music, and many more!

We look forward to working as a team to provide your child with the best education possible.

Ruth Giron-Wong is the assistant principal at Shadow Hills this school year. Mrs. Giron-Wong began her career in education as a college mentor for high school students. She continued her studies at Cal State Los Angeles, where she earned a BA in Psychology along with her clear teaching credential. Mrs. Giron-Wong’s first four years of teaching were at the Middle School level, teaching math. She then went on to teach high school Spanish for 10 years. She then worked with the Upward Bound program at UC Berkeley for 2 summers, teaching math. Her career continued to expand when she became the Coordinator for Early Childhood Education for the Mountain View School District in El Monte. Mrs. Giron-Wong was an assistant principal at various schools in the Lancaster school district. She was privileged to receive a call from the Palmdale school district and is grateful for having the opportunity to work in such a versatile and innovative school district. Her passion is supporting student academic growth by working together with students, teachers, and families. Our Manzanita mice have shown growth in their academic and social-emotional skills this school year due to the dedication and support they have at home and the high expectations our teachers have for them each day.
