Welcome to Los Amigos Dual Immersion!

It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as your new principal at Los Amigos Dual Immersion. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education. Los Amigos Dual Immersion is a place where strong connections are made between home and school. It is also a place where all staff members are committed to helping students learn two languages and succeed every day.

I would like to take the opportunity to share a little about myself. I was born in Guatemala and immigrated to the United States with my family at a young age. Coming from another country has not only taught me the value of my culture but also to appreciate and understand other cultures. I hold a Master’s of Science in Administration from Pepperdine University. I am finalizing my doctorate studies at the California State University, Northridge. I have also worked with a variety of students ranging from Kindergarten to sixth grade. My most recent administrative experience was at Barrel Springs where I served as a principal. I am eager to bring my skills as an educational leader to Los Amigos Dual Immersion and work with you as a partner in your child's education and success.

I firmly value and believe in the Palmdale Promise where we need to prepare all students for 21st-century learning while providing equity to all students and building on students’ strengths and culture.  In addition, the most important aspect of my work as Principal of Los Amigos is continuing to build meaningful relationships with students, families, and teachers as well as the community. It is for that reason, that it is very important for me, as well as Mrs. Maria Dorn, our Assistant Principal, to be in the hallways, classrooms, on the playground, and in the lunchroom building relationships with our students throughout the day and year. I firmly believe open communication is very important in a school, and for this reason, I will always encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher, to a member of the office staff, our assistant principal, or to me with any questions you may have.

This school year will be an amazing school year as we continue providing academic experiences for our students that are rigorous, relevant, and help them build relationships while making real-world connections.

At Los Amigos Dual Immersion, we have many things to be proud of and I look forward to working with you as a team. I am also excited for a great school year filled with many celebrations. Thank you in advance for an incredible school year. Let’s keep our students reading, writing, and problem-solving throughout the school year.

    Mrs. Yesenia Diaz
