It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of David G. Millen Magnet Academy. I have been dedicated to the field of education for twenty years. I am currently in the last stages of my Doctorate Degree through Liberty University. I hold a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from Liberty University, a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana Wesleyan University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, which I received through Chapman University. I have had the wonderful opportunity to be part of a military family and work in several states gaining a vast amount of experience. I have worked a variety of students’ ranging from Kindergarten through High School in both special education and regular education. I have worked in public, private, and charter schools. I have also worked at the state level with standards writing teams along with being an expert content reviewer for the State of California English Language Arts Adoption. Most importantly I love working with students and educators. I strongly believe in empowering others and I am so very excited to have the opportunity to support the Palmdale PROMISE here at David G. Millen Law and Government Magnet Academy.
Our school learning community is strengthened by our partnerships. The active participation of students, staff, families, and community organizations are essential for our continued success. I encourage you all to be active in our School Site Council Meetings, ELAC, School Activities, School Board Meetings, Leadership Days, and Parent Nights. As we go through the school year, I welcome the opportunity to meet all of you. Please know that I have an open door policy and you are invited to DGM anytime.
I am looking forward to a positive, upbeat school year at DGM. I encourage all students to be leaders and stand up to anything you know is not appropriate. Remind yourself that you do not have to follow the crowd- instead be a leader of one. Be yourself and do the right thing, even when no one is watching. With your help, DGM will continue to be a school community in which every person feels respected, valued, and is challenged to achieve at the highest levels.
I look forward to working with you and your child throughout the school year to provide a productive and safe learning environment that supports student success.
