I am very proud to be Desert Rose Elementary School’s Assistant Principal. This is my first year in Administration, as I recently graduated with my Master’s Degree in Education Administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas. My undergraduate degree is from Southwest Texas State University, where I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a minor in Spanish. I had the opportunity to do my student teaching in Cuernavaca, Mexico at Centro Universitario Anglo Mexicano.
I have twenty years of experience teaching and working for non-profits. Most recently, I served as the Education Director for a non-profit in Santa Barbara that connects at-risk youth with art mentors. Previously, I was a Spanish teacher and World Languages Department Chair at Ojai Valley School. Before moving to California, I taught Spanish and physical education in Texas (Round Rock, San Marcos, and San Antonio). I also spent two years as a general education teacher and counselor at an alternative school on Oahu, Hawaii.
I am a proud father of two beautiful children, Kai and Zooey, and husband to a wonderful teacher-librarian Ashlee. We have one dog Lulu, cat Xochitl, many fish, and four hens. On the weekends, we love to go camping at the beach, cheer on the Texas Longhorns and spend time together as a family.
