It is an honor to introduce myself as the new principal of Palmdale Learning Plaza, International Baccalaureate and home of the Pumas. I am Principal Kim Wright. I received my Bachelors of Arts in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Journalism in 1997, from CSUN and received my Teaching Credential and Master’s Degree in Educational Administration in 2001. I recently completed my doctorate in K-12 Education & Administration from USC. I have been an employee of the Palmdale School District for over twenty years. From a very young age, I was told that I have a ‘gift for teaching’. I believe ‘I was called’ to be an educator. I began teaching for the Palmdale School District at Chaparral Elementary for several years teaching in grades 2nd, 4th , and 6th. In addition, I was an administrative intern for 3 years at Chaparral School and began working as an assistant principal in 2001 at several schools for the Palmdale School District. I have just completed my fifteenth year as a principal lead learner, five of those years at Tamarisk Elementary and the last ten years at Barrel Springs. As a child advocate and staff supporter, I believe that all students can learn at high levels with the support from both parents & educators working together. Our goal is to provide many opportunities for student success for all of our students by combining academic rigor, social-emotional support and culturally relevant pedagogy. In doing so, we are equipping our students to be college and career ready and compete globally in the 21st Century. I look forward to working with our families, staff, and community here at Palmdale Learning Plaza, where we have the best students anywhere!
With Puma Pride,
