Paula Saavedra

  • Hello. My name is Paula Saavedra and, in 2018, I joined the Palmdale School District. It is with much enthusiasm that I join the SAGE administration team for the 2019-2020 school year.  I look forward to working with my administrative team, staff, students, and the families of SAGE in an effort to foster a caring, positive and supportive community that allows each and every one of our unique students the opportunity to leave PSD ready for success in high school and beyond-college, career and the global world.

My experience in education spans over twenty years.  I received my teaching credential and Masters degree in Education from UCLA. My teaching career began in the Glendale Unified School district as a 4th/5th grade Spanish bilingual teacher. Over the next twelve years, I taught grades 1-5. During my last few years in the classroom, I returned to school and received my Masters in Administration from CSUN. Continued learning and growth are essential for all educators, and I believe in life-long learning. In 2010, I left classroom teaching and became a Teacher Specialist at a middle school where I worked to support and improve the English Learner and Special Education programs. In this position, I was tasked with many administrative duties including parental involvement strategies, student intervention programs, budgeting, testing, and professional development. I was a Common Core Leader who worked with staff throughout the district in appropriate implementation of the Common Core. In 2014, I was promoted to an Assistant Principal position. I have been an assistant principal at both the elementary and middle school levels.  My time and various experiences in education have contributed to my growth as an educator and leader as well as the development of my philosophy of education which is that every child is a capable learner who, when held to the highest expectations and given the appropriate tools and support, will achieve academic, socio-emotional, and physical success.  As an administrator, I work to support students in achieving to their highest capacity in all areas by working with my school community and supporting students in discovering their potential and value as unique individuals.

On a personal note, I am a wife and mother of two amazing young men. I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, movies, music, crafting, and baking.  I also enjoy reading mystery and children's books. I spend much of my free time volunteering at my youngest son's school as a "Band Mom".  I am eager to get the new school year underway so that I may meet and work with my new community.  I know the future holds great things for us all!
