Assistant Principal

My name is Christine Walston. I am thrilled to serve as the new Assistant Principal of the best school in the district!

I am so excited to join the Golden Poppy community and partner with our staff and families. Over my 25 years in education, I have served as an elementary teacher, SST Coordinator, Administrator Designee, and districtwide TOSA for intervention and writing systems. One of my proudest professional moments was being recognized as the 2023 Teacher of the Year in Saugus Union School District. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Communications from Wheaton College, a Master’s degree in Educational Administration from Grand Canyon University, and a California Administrative Services Credential.

I believe in supporting the whole child, utilizing data-informed instruction, multi-tiered systems of support, and positive behavioral strategies—such as Capturing Kids' Hearts and PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports)—to help every student thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Every day, we aim to build strong relationships, foster an inclusive and safe environment, and empower our students with the skills and confidence to successfully compete in an ever-changing global community. I am looking forward to having a banner year and watching our students soar!
