Sun Bucks
Are you a parent in California looking for help with food for your kids this summer? Good news! There’s a program called SUN Bucks, also known as California’s Summer EBT, that helps families buy groceries during summer break.
Starting in Summer 2025, families can get $40 each month for June, July, and August. That adds up to $120 for the summer, so kids can have healthy food to eat. This money is specifically for food purchases.
To apply, please fill out the attached form English or Spanish (via Informed K12). You will receive a letter in the mail informing you whether you qualify based on your household size and income. The income eligibility guidelines for the 2025-26 Free and Reduced Meals are listed below. Participating in SUN Bucks does not affect a family's immigration status.
If you have questions about SUN Bucks, you can call the SUN Bucks helpline at (877) 328-9677. The automated system is available 24/7, and live agents are ready to assist you Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Schools can’t help with Sun Bucks questions. To check your benefit balance and claim status, please visit the California EBT cardholder website.
